Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the AC Savings mobile application (the “App”) and the website at acsavings.sphinx.codes (the “Site”, together the “Service”) handle your data.

The Service is operated by Sphinx Code(“we”, “us”, “our”), publisher of AC Savings on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Under Republic Act No. 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (the “DPA”), we are the Personal Information Controller for the processing described below.

Read this policy together with our Terms of Use. Installing or using the App means you have read and understood this policy. If you do not agree with it, do not use the Service.

AC Savings has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. The App contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, and no crash-reporting SDK.

The data you enter, being your city, your air-conditioning units, your electricity rate, and your savings history, is stored in a database on your device. We do not receive it and we hold no copy of it. Uninstalling the App deletes it.

The App sends data off your device in two cases only. It sends your selected city’s coordinates to a weather service to retrieve your forecast. It sends your search text to our city-lookup service while you search for a city during setup. Neither request includes your name, an account, an advertising identifier, or any data you entered in the App.

Sections 3 to 21 set out the details, your rights, and the limits of our liability.

We do not:

• operate accounts, sign-in, passwords, or social login;
• collect your name, email address, telephone number, or postal address;
• request or access your GPS or precise location;
• request or access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, health data, or files;
• display advertising or share data with advertising networks or data brokers;
• use cookies, advertising identifiers (IDFA/AAID), device fingerprinting, or cross-app or cross-site tracking;
• embed third-party analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting software development kits;
• sell, rent, or trade your data; or
• build user profiles, apply automated decision-making, or conduct profiling as those terms are defined in the DPA.

The App stores the following in a local database, protected by your operating system’s application sandbox:

• the city you select, with its coordinates and time zone;
• the air-conditioning units you add, including horsepower, type, room size, and age;
• your electricity tariff and currency;
• your daily and monthly savings ledger, including temperature settings, run hours, and the figures the App calculates from them;
• your preferences, including theme, temperature units, and notification times; and
• a short-lived cache of recent weather data.

This data is processed on your device only. It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else. We cannot retrieve, restore, export, or produce it, including in response to a request from you or from a third party.

The App makes network requests in two cases.

5.1 Weather data

The App requires outdoor temperature and humidity for your selected city in order to calculate your savings. It sends that city’s coordinates to MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, via api.met.no), and to WeatherAPI.com where a fallback is configured. Weather data is used under the CC BY 4.0 licence.

The request contains the coordinates, the date range, and the network information carried by any internet request, including your IP address. It does not contain your GPS position. The App does not request location permission and cannot determine your physical location. It does not contain your name, an identifier, your electricity rate, your equipment details, or your savings history.

MET Norway and WeatherAPI.com are independent controllers of the data they receive and process it under their own privacy policies.

5.2 City search

When you search for a city during setup, the App sends your search text to our city-lookup service, which returns matching cities. We operate this service. It is hosted on infrastructure provided by Railway in the United States.

The request contains the search text and your IP address. It contains no other data. It occurs only while you are actively searching. Once you select a city, the city is written to your device and the App does not contact this service again.

Our city-lookup service keeps standard technical server logs. A log entry may record the date and time of the request, the requested address, which includes your search text, the response status, and the originating IP address.

These logs are used to operate the service, diagnose faults, and prevent abuse. They are not used to build profiles, are not linked to any account, are not combined with other data, and are not shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Because no account exists, we do not associate log entries with an identified individual. We retain these logs for no longer than thirty (30) days, after which they are deleted or overwritten. Our hosting provider may keep separate infrastructure logs under its own retention policy.

The App requests only the permissions it needs:

• Notifications (optional). Used to show a local morning digest and change alerts. Declining does not restrict any other feature.
• Network access. Required for the two cases in Section 5.

The App does not request location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, storage, or any other sensitive permission.

Notifications are scheduled on your device by the operating system, using data already on your device. There is no push notification server. We do not issue or store push tokens and we do not send remote messages to your device. Notification content does not pass through us.

You can disable notifications in the App’s Settings screen or in your device settings.

AC Savings is a paid application. Apple and Google process all payments through their app stores under their own terms and privacy policies.

We do not receive or store your card details, billing address, or store account credentials. Sales and download statistics provided to us by Apple or Google are aggregated and cannot identify you.

We do not control the privacy practices of these providers and are not responsible for them. Listing them here is not an endorsement.

The current version of the App has no account system, no cloud backup, and no synchronisation. Your data is not backed up to any server we operate.

Your operating system may include App data in a device-level backup, such as iCloud Backup or Google’s backup service, depending on your device settings. Apple, Google, and your own settings control those backups. We have no access to them.

If we add an optional backup or account feature later, it will be opt-in. We will update this policy and notify you in the App before it processes any of your data.

We hold no personal data about you. The only records we retain are the server logs in Section 6, kept for no more than thirty (30) days.

Data on your device is retained until you delete it or uninstall the App. You can clear individual entries or reset your data in the App’s Settings screen.

We apply reasonable organisational, physical, and technical measures to protect the limited data we handle. All App network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections. Our city-lookup service holds no personal records that could be exposed in a breach.

No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you transmit data at your own risk.

The security of data on your device also depends on your passcode, biometric lock, operating system updates, and whether the device has been jailbroken or rooted. These are outside our control.

Under the DPA, subject to its conditions and exceptions, you have the right to be informed, to object, to access, to rectification, to erasure or blocking, to data portability, to file a complaint, and to damages for a violation of your rights.

The App does not collect data that identifies you, and your data stays on your device under your control. You therefore exercise most of these rights directly in the App. You can view, edit, and delete your data at any time, and uninstalling the App erases it.

For requests about the server logs in Section 6, or any question about this policy, contact us using the details in Section 20. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. You may also file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission of the Philippines (privacy.gov.ph).

AC Savings is available in several countries. Requests described in Section 5 may be handled by servers outside your country of residence, including in the United States and the European Union.

If you are in the EU/EEA or the United Kingdom under the GDPR, or in a jurisdiction with equivalent legislation, you may hold additional rights, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Contact us using the details in Section 20 to exercise them.

Using the Service means you understand that requests may be processed in jurisdictions whose data protection laws differ from your own.

The Service is for general audiences and is not directed at children.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under thirteen (13) years of age, or under the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction where that age is higher. The App has no accounts, no social features, no user-to-user communication, and no advertising.

If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact us using the details in Section 20 and we will act on it.

All temperature recommendations, consumption figures, cost figures, and savings amounts shown in the App are estimates produced by a model. They are calculated from the settings you enter, published appliance efficiency assumptions, and third-party weather data.

They are provided for general information only. They are not a measurement of your actual electricity consumption, not a prediction of your bill, and not professional energy, engineering, financial, or investment advice.

Your actual bill depends on factors the App cannot observe, including your meter readings, your utility’s tariff structure and adjustments, the condition and maintenance of your equipment, the insulation and occupancy of your home, other appliances, and your actual usage.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranty or representation as to the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose of any figure shown in the App. We accept no liability for any decision made, action taken, or loss suffered in reliance on those figures, including loss of profits, revenue, savings, opportunity, or goodwill. Verify any material decision against your actual utility bills.

We accept no liability for the accuracy or availability of third-party weather data, or for any interruption to the Service.

The Service links to third-party websites and services, including those in Section 10. Following such a link takes you off our Service. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content or practices, and this policy does not apply to them.

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the App, in our practices, or in the law.

When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date and post the revised policy at acsavings.sphinx.codes/privacy. If a change materially affects how your data is handled, we will give more prominent notice, including notice in the App.

Changes take effect when posted. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the revised policy.

This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Nothing in this policy limits any right you hold under a mandatory provision of the law of your country of residence that cannot be excluded by agreement.
